I can´t wait to play for Millwall again

Danny Spiller, now a Millwall player
It´s been a while since I last updated my website - sorry for the absence but I´m going to be updating very regularly from now on!

A lot has changed since my last update actually. I now play for Millwall for a start. I got off to a really good start here; I played the first seven games of the season and then unfortunately picked up an injury which has kept me out until now. I had a hernia operation and it turned out that it wasn’t a success, so I had it re-done again recently and I am still picking up symptoms. But little by little I am strengthening it up and it´s looking like I might make it back within the next few weeks.

There is a chance that I could play again before the season ends, but at the same time there is no point rushing back. I know there is a bit of a relegation battle going on but it looks as if we might be safe now. If I don’t need to rush back the best thing for me would be to build up my strength and come back stronger than ever. I´ve been in the position before where I have rushed myself back from injury and it does you no good in the long run, it is like taking one step forward and two steps back.

The last op was four weeks ago and I am back to jogging already. There is no pain at all but I am taking anti-inflammatories to combat some of the symptoms I get. I´m getting there but it is still frustrating because I am not really back running again.

I won´t be playing against Gillingham this weekend unfortunately. I would have loved to play against my old team-mates and to play in front of the Gillingham fans again. I never really got the chance to say farewell to them properly at the end of last season and I´d love the chance to do so.

The move I made between the two clubs all happened pretty quickly. I was offered a new contract at Gillingham but when I heard Millwall were interested in me it was an easy decision. Although it was sad to leave the club I had grown up with, it was time to move on. I believe Millwall are a great club with brilliant fans and I am really looking forward to showing them what I can do as soon as I am injury free.

It was an easy move to make as well. The lads were all excellent as soon as I arrived. I already knew Darren Byfield here and he introduced me to all the boys. I didn’t have to move house or anything either, so it was all a smooth transition.

Hopefully my recovery will be just as smooth; I´ll keep you updated on how things are going.

Bye for now, Danny.
