Upload main image here: ![]() ![]() ![]() | It´s a case of deja-vu for all the lads at Gillingham this weekend; last year we needed to get a result on the final day of the season at Stoke to stay up and now, here we are again, needing to get something from our trip to Nottingham Forest. It´s a three-horse race to stay up between ourselves, Brighton and Crewe and although we are in the better position, we can´t go out thinking we might only need a point because that´s when you can become unstuck. We´re all really confident that we will get something out of the game, but all we´re focused on is the three points, which would ensure our fans still have their fingernails at the end of the game. Forest are down, but that doesn´t make our task any easier; how often have you seen a relegated team go out on the final day, with the pressure completely lifted off of them, and put in a really good performance? They´ll want to give their fans some hope for next season, so we´ll be approaching the game as if we´re playing Sunderland, Ipswich or Wigan. Our survival is in our own hands, so we´ve got to keep it that way for another 90 minutes. Unfortunately I´m still not involved. The lads have now lost just once in 11 games but I have received assurances that I will still be in the fold next season. With that in mind, my season begins once Sunday´s game is over. It won´t be a relaxing summer for me; I´ll be making sure I´m already fit when pre-season comes around because I´ve got a lot to prove to the manager - if he stays on. Much will depend on what happens on Sunday but you can´t deny he´s done a great job at Priestfield, even if it´s been a frustrating time for me personally. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
