Good and bad news

Well let´s get the bad news out of the way first; it´s been confirmed that I´ve suffered a fracture to my left fibula and will be out of action for at least the next six weeks. I came off during Saturday´s game against Cardiff but feel I suffered the injury prior to that match. It got to the point during the game where I was in severe pain as I ran, so was sent for an MRI scan. My worst fears were confirmed and now I´m having to walk round in an air cast boot until the injury heals.

On a more positive note, the lads are all delighted the managerial situation has been resolved and that Stan Ternant has been appointed. As I said in my previous notes, there was uncertainty in the camp but now we can all focus and look forward to the rest of the season, knowing Stan will be in charge.

He´s already commanded great respect for what he´s done with Burnley, Hull and Bury and I´m sure he´ll be the man who will turn our season around. From what I can gather, he seems to be strong and solid, which is exactly what we´ll need to be in the coming weeks and months as we try and pull away from the danger zone. He´s gone on record as saying that he´s never suffered from relegation in his managerial career - so let´s hope that record continues.

We´re not even looking at the drop though; if you start doing that then all sorts of negative thoughts can enter your head and that can affect your play. It´s a tired cliché, but all we do is look at the next game and for us, that´s a trip to Wigan. The gaffer could have had easier starts but the lads will be fired up to impress and hopefully that will work to our favour.

We all know what Wigan are about, but they don´t have the biggest crowd behind them, so if we can get our noises in front, we´ll be hoping to cause of one of the upsets of the weekend. Unfortunately, I won´t be playing a part but Stan has already had a chat with me and told me to keep my chin up. That was a nice boost to my confidence and I´m already chomping at the bit to get back.

He's gone on record as saying that he's never suffered from relegation in his managerial career - so let's hope that record continues.
